JIL SANDER has collaborated with Coty to launch their first high-end fragrance series, Olfactory Series 1, based on the brand's iconic design philosophy.

Olfactory Series 1 seamlessly merges botany and technology to showcase the allure of perfumes.

Series Concept

Elegant, pure, and simplistic, the Jil Sander fragrance series combines botany and technology to present six minimalist unisex scent formulas. Each fragrance intertwines aldehydic notes with key natural essences, showcasing unique layers and depth.

This collection's core concept is to redefine traditional perfumery by creating a minimalist scent that retains only the essential elements: through perfume, carbon capture ethanol, aldehydes, and water, they aim to capture the purity and precision of scent.

The series' fragrances are crafted using advanced technology to evoke a profound resonance between nature and humanity, expressing deep-seated emotions.

Appearance is just the surface, and the essence lies within. The Olfactory Series 1, as an olfactory interpretation of Jil Sander's design philosophy, places individuality at the core, balancing intimacy and existence, softness and masculinity, day and night, and humans and technology.

In Jil Sander's designs, precious details often remain hidden, meant to delight oneself. Whether it's the inside of a garment or the inside of a bracelet, these details are as valuable as the outer display. Who hasn't fallen in love with an item because of its scent or texture, not just its appearance?

After a person leaves a room, their scent remains. This is a different, intuitive form of contact. In an instant, it can take us back to a certain environment, scene, sound, or even a forgotten memory. Desire, perfume has a subtle power to make us perceive ourselves in a different way.

The Olfactory Series 1 is created by five internationally renowned new and established perfumers.

Their shared vision is to elevate the ordinary to the aesthetic experience, achieving extraordinary expression through a fascination with personal memories, the perception of natural or familiar environments, places, and things.

This creation, born from pure inspiration, aims to bring surprise and emotion to people.

The scents highlight the remarkable olfactory characteristics of aldehydes - like sparks in a fragrance, they amplify the distinct traits of key notes and evoke a harmonious resonance with the main ingredients, releasing each natural essence appropriately, and striving to bring a new sensory experience.

The formulas are simple yet clever, producing deep, unexpected, yet comfortable perfumes with no excess.

This sophisticated method of blending through subtraction and specific emphasis presents the essence of fragrance. The complex creative process ultimately boils down to simple, direct feelings.

Since the formula only contains alcohol, water, and everyday fragrances, the color of the fragrance may change over time, but the olfactory quality will not be affected.

With the addition of aldehydes, combined with the citrusy notes of grapefruit, cardamom, and wild mint, it presents a refreshing citrus aroma.

Before the addition of aldehydes, the scent of this perfume was mild and soft, but after the creative introduction of aldehydes, its greenness is even more pronounced, and the scent becomes strong, fantastical, and exciting.

This inspiration is realized through the exquisite fusion of Damascus rose, pink rose, and lemongrass leaf scents, with the touch of aldehydes vividly presenting the moist, vibrant natural scene in the olfactory senses, like a detailed high-definition painting.

5. Jil Sander Coffea

This floral amber fragrance brings a vibrant and sparkling layer with aldehydes, blending coffee bean, iris, and Peru balsam scents to create a collision and fusion of two worlds.

Outside, there is snow falling silently. Inside the warm wooden house, the morning light shines through the window, and the air is filled with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee, warm and cozy.

Jil Sander Coffea fully presents the interweaving of green plant and roasted scents. The iris root scent emits a delicate powdery scent of maturity. The warm and soft balsam scent gently touches the skin, adding a warm and layered amber-like feeling to the perfume.

Design

The bottle of the Olfactory Series 1 fragrance was co-created with the famous Milan and Rotterdam design studio Formafantasma, which fully matches the series' minimalist yet innovative characteristics.

Formafantasma's work delves into the impact of ecological and social forces in contemporary design fields.

Their goal is to integrate handcrafted methods and feelings into the industrial production process, combining high-end craftsmanship and production technology to break the norms of traditional glass manufacturing.

After repeated experiments between the designers and skilled glass manufacturers, each perfume bottle has a naturally asymmetric shape and unique glass distribution.

Enjoying it carefully, each bottle of fragrance contains a unique aesthetic experience, just like the world itself, which is beautiful because of its imperfection.

The bell-shaped white aluminum cap covering the bottle is both practical and beautiful, protecting the perfume from light and giving the feeling of holding a precious and private piece of art when unscrewing the cap to spray the perfume.
