On April 17th, Beike issued a voluntary announcement, informing that its board chair, CEO, and controlling shareholder, Peng Yongdong, plans to donate 9 million A-class Beike common shares. After fulfilling the corresponding tax obligations, 50% of the after-tax funds will be allocated for the medical and health welfare of service providers in the housing industry and their families. The remaining 50% will be used to assist graduates and other renter groups with rental support.
Analysis by the Securities Times indicates that Beike's platform currently hosts several hundred thousand service providers in the housing industry, including real estate brokers, home installation workers, and rental managers. There are over 14,000 employees with more than 10 years of service within the Beike organization. By providing medical and health benefits for these service providers and their families, Beike aims to enable them to work with dignity and peace of mind, which is beneficial for their long-term career and the delivery of superior services to consumers. For recent graduates, starting a rental life in the city is often the first step towards entering society from campus. Peng Yongdong's donation will help this group "afford to rent" and "live well," alleviating their housing problems and allowing them to focus more on their personal development and growth.
Regarding revenue streams, Beike currently has five main sources of income, which include the business of existing homes, new homes, home improvement and home furnishings, house rental services, and emerging businesses and other services.
According to the company's financial report data, in 2024, with the deepening of Beike's "One Body and Three Wings" structure, revenue growth from the rental business and home improvement business was significant. Data shows that Beike's rental business achieved a net revenue of 14.3 billion yuan in 2024, a year-on-year increase of 135%; the home improvement business achieved an income of 14.8 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 36.1%, with improved customer acquisition efficiency and a year-on-year increase of 27.3% in contract amounts. The revenue from emerging businesses and other services reached 2.5 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 8.8%, mainly due to the increase in net income from financial services.
