As of April 22nd, the Guangdong Provincial Bureau of Statistics has released its latest economic data. According to the unified accounting of regional GDP, in the first quarter, Guangdong achieved a regional GDP of 33525.51 billion yuan. Calculated at constant prices, this represents a year-on-year increase of 4.1%. Additionally, the total retail sales of consumer goods in the province increased by 2.5%, a 1.5 percentage point increase compared to the first two months of the year, with a growth rate of 5.8% in March.
Notably, the retail sales of goods related to the "buy new, return old" program have seen rapid growth. This includes: Electrical appliances and audio-visual equipment in enterprises above the designated size increased by 29.1% Cultural office supplies saw a growth of 40.0% Furniture experienced a growth of 42.2% Communication equipment increased by 17.7% The retail sales of new energy vehicles also grew by 8.6%. The potential of online consumption continues to be realized, with enterprises above the designated size seeing a growth of 16.3% in retail sales through public networks. This growth was particularly strong in March, with a year-on-year increase of 31.9%, marking the highest growth rate since 2022.
