In recent years, the competition in global display technology has intensified. As the 2025 Berlin International Consumer Electronics Fair (IFA2025) is about to open, the competition between Hisense, Samsung, and Sony around the RGB-Mini LED display technology has become the focus of the industry. A new round of the Sino-Japanese-Korean battle is about to unfold. According to reliable information, TCL's upcoming X series flagship new product is likely to adopt RGB-Mini LED technology and will probably be showcased at this IFA. Hisense, as the only brand currently mass-producing RGB-Mini LED TVs, is also rumored to announce major news during the IFA period. It is evident that Chinese manufacturers are leading in the competition of the next generation display technology, with Japanese and South Korean manufacturers striving to keep up with this new technological trend.

The RGB-Mini LED technology has attracted so much attention because of its significant advantages in display form over the current mainstream quantum dot products. In January of this year, Hisense released the world's first 116-inch RGB-Mini LED TV UX at CES, causing a stir in the industry. However, at that time, many people were still skeptical that it was just a "PPT product". Sony had proposed the RGB LED technology theory as early as 2004, but was hindered by technical challenges such as color mixing and poor stability of the three primary color LEDs, which prevented mass production. As a result, the industry was also cautious about whether Hisense could bring the RGB-Mini LED TV to the market.

However, the doubts were put to rest with the mass production and launch of the model, giving way to an increasingly fierce technological revolution. But what exactly is the RGB-Mini LED TV? Simply put, the TV industry has long used the traditional display mode of "single-color backlight, secondary conversion." Hisense's RGB-Mini LED breakthroughly adopts red, green, and blue three primary color independent backlights, innovatively adding precise control of the chroma dimension, and for the first time achieving a major upgrade from "single light control" to "light-color control."

In addition to the leap in display form, Hisense's huge breakthrough in the chip field is also a highlight. Its self-developed global first light-color control AI picture quality chip can achieve 108bits light-color control and 15680 points high-precision color control, allowing RGB-Mini LED to reach 97% of the BT.2020 ultra-high color gamut, which is more than 6% higher than QD-OLED, and more than 16% higher than QD-Mini LED. The color volume is more than 20% higher than QD-Mini LED and more than 3% higher than QD-OLED, bringing a more natural color expression with red corrected, green accurate, and blue transparent. In addition, RGB-Mini LED also has the advantages of super high brightness, super wide viewing angle, and super low energy consumption, and is called the "ultimate solution for liquid crystal display" by industry experts.

Due to the significant technological leadership of Hisense TV UX, Chinese manufacturers have for the first time gained the right of speech in the high-end display technology. This has forced Japanese and South Korean manufacturers to follow suit. Before IFA, Samsung released its first 115-inch Micro RGB TV using RGB-Mini LED technology, and Sony also proudly announced that it would bring its self-developed RGB high-density LED display system to the show. From the first release of RGB-Mini LED TV in January to the initial formation of the RGB-Mini LED global camp in September, it is clear that major TV manufacturers do not want to be marginalized in the future high-end market competition. After Hisense took the high ground first, Japanese and South Korean giants have chosen to make an emergency turn.

From the current situation, the 115-inch Micro RGB TV of Samsung, which is scheduled to be mass-produced this year, is priced at 44.9 million South Korean won (about 23.2 million yuan), compared to the price of Hisense TV 116UX at 99,999 yuan (with a subsidy price of 97,999 yuan), the market competitiveness needs to be tested. If TCL's RGB-Mini LED new product can also be mass-produced this year, it will undoubtedly further strengthen the advantage of Chinese manufacturers.

It is also noteworthy that Toshiba, which has performed well in the Japanese high-end market in recent years, has also started the development of RGB new products and plans to mass-produce its first 116-inch RGB-Mini LED TV this year, which is likely to become the first Japanese brand to launch RGB-Mini LED TV. However, given that Toshiba TV has been acquired by Hisense and the key core technology also comes from Hisense, the brand alignment and market performance should also be attributed to the Chinese camp. By 2026, there is a high probability that the situation will be 3:1:1 in China, Japan, and South Korea, with Chinese manufacturers continuing to expand their leading advantage.

It can be said that with the Mini LED products led by Chinese enterprises forming an overwhelming force against Japanese and South Korean brands' OLED products, the vast industrial chain advantages are also gradually transforming into a say. After Hisense broke the "ultra-high pricing monopoly" of the high-end market rules by Japanese and South Korean brands, other Chinese brands can join the competition without any psychological burden, taking advantage of the strong industrial chain foundation at home to reduce prices, and jointly promote the market popularization of RGB-Mini LED TVs. This year's IFA will have the opportunity to witness the beginning of a new "RGB-Mini LED era".
