Design Insights: Little Things, Big Impact
On August 28, 2025, the "Search for Influential Creators in the Design Industry - Cover Figure City Salon," co-hosted by InteriorDesign中文版 and Schneider Electric, visited the Guangzhou Rongli Luxury Lifestyle Pavilion. This season's focus was on the deep connotations and design inspirations of "Little Things, Big Impact." MOOY 木一小土's founder and lead designer, Zhao Jing, was invited to attend and was interviewed by Sina Home.
With the design philosophy of "Free Exploration of All Possibilities," MOOY 木一小土 Studio has crossed over into various fields such as buying agent stores, commercial spaces, architecture, and installation art. Taking the 2000-square-meter luxury collection store LADYGIRL as an example, Zhao Jing explained how details can reshape the logic of commercial spaces: by meticulously refining paper towel boxes, faucets, even the restrooms, traditional commercial spaces are transformed into "third spaces" that blend experience and emotion. She pointed out that at present, property owners are willing to allocate 20%-30% of the commercial area to create "beautiful but useless" experience zones, indicating a shift from transaction-oriented commercial design to a focus on sensory experiences.
In response to the theme of "Little Things, Big Impact," Zhao Jing presented a forward-looking perspective: every designer, by deeply cultivating the details in their respective fields, will eventually gather into a great force that drives industry change. Speaking as a city observer, she emphasized that the delicate design of street-side shops, micro-architecture, and other urban micro-locations is reshaping modern people's living experience spaces through aesthetic leadership and cultural empowerment.
