Children's Space Design: Sensory, Detective, and Aesthetic Enlightenment

When children first touch the texture of elephant toys and first gaze at the colors of space, design becomes their "first lesson" in understanding the world. Teacher Zhu Lei from Jiu Zhai Design uses low-saturation colors and natural materials as teaching aids, hoping to create a growth experiment about "sensation, detective, and aesthetic enlightenment" in the children's space. The designer rejects the dazzling high-saturation colors and chooses a soft color palette with low saturation to build the spatial foundation, laying a "sensory buffer pad" for children—neither too stimulating nor subtly cultivating their perception of color layers and harmony.

The art paintings on the wall are decorated with geometric shapes and Morandi tones, seemingly simple color combinations, but in fact, they are the "color enlightenment class" carefully prepared by the designer for children: allowing them to quietly establish the initial cognition of aesthetic order in their daily life. "Touching is the instinct of children to understand the world," the designer uses natural materials such as wood, cotton, and linen in the space: the wooden texture of STOKKE baby beds conveys the natural temperature, the soft touch of cotton and linen soothes the children's tactile nerves, and the texture of the original wood small tables and chairs invites children to explore the "difference between rough and smooth."

Each material is a "touch lesson": the firmness of the material teaches children "stability", the softness of cotton and linen conveys "gentleness", and these textures from nature help children establish a real cognition of the material world in touch, providing the most natural teaching materials for their sensory development.
